Oh Great River Jordan

Oh Great River Jordan
by Jared Jacob

Oh Great River Jordan,
Can I see beyond this horizon?
Can I venture into the furthest limits of my mind?
Can I see into the moment when my capacity to accommodate complacent comfort is disturbed?... …so that defiance for adventure would awaken.

I look at myself,
I see the smile of Jesus.
There it is…the River Jordan.
Beyond my capacity? No, I can’t see it.
Nonetheless, I believe.

The One who started the good work is faithful to complete it.
Faithful is He-the Sun who rises in my eastern horizon;
The Sun who brings life to my pastures,
Makes verdant the desert lands,
Forging streams in the wilderness.
He is the source of life.

Oh Great River Jordan,
I saw you face-to-face.
I reckoned with a truth:
Progress requires a step in the right direction.
In retrospect, the One who created you allowed me to make it across.

A challenge seen;
A challenge overcome.
The call of God: His provision to accomplish.

Exceedingly Abundantly

Dream a dream and allow God to bring it into fruition.

Dream a dream that requires a miracle.

Dream a dream that you can't even dream.

If you could accomplish it on your own, you're not dreaming big enough.

“What parameters do I have to work with?,” you may ask. Forget the concept of parameter (or boundary). With God, there is no boundary to what He can do to and through your life.

For a moment, forsake the convention of measurement. Rather, adopt a notion of the limitless.

Calculus 101: That is to say, “the limit of God as time approaches infinity DOES NOT EXIST.” God has never been limited. God is not limited. God will never be limited. Q.E.D.

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us…” (Eph 3:20 NKJV).
That's right! Preach it, Brother Paul!

He said, “exceedingly abundantly.” Not just „abundantly, but “exceedingly abundantly.” That's an extreme adverb modifying another extreme adverb. In some urban circles, you could call that “baller.”

I don't think I could grasp those two words: “exceedingly abundantly.” I know. I tried it. It just didn't work.
Remember, God gives you a hope beyond the scope of human vision, far exceeding the function of the human dream…

To the dreamers out there, be encouraged! For those of you who dare to believe for the impossible…To those who are bold enough to stand before the giants…To those who call down Heaven to invade earth… To those who have the audacity to ask God to stop the sun…I STAND WITH YOU. This world needs people like you.

The Wind

Lord, sweep me off my feet with Your wind, the wind of Your Spirit; The might rushing wind.  The Nooma.  The Ruach.  Rush into me in Pentecost fashion, setting this heart ablaze. I’ll wait in Jerusalem for that outpouring of Your Spirit and dunamis power.  Then I’ll know I’m ready to make Your name known.

And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now" (Acts 1:4-6 NKJV).

The beauty of Your wind is that I can’t see it…I see its effects though.  May I not chase Your wind, to grasp it with my own might…but I stand here, that Your wind may sweep me off my feet.  I’ll fly.  Oh yes! I shall fly.  I’m gonna soar with You.  And, soar as high as the heavens.  I’ll fly with You.  In the heights of heaven, I’ll be seated with Christ in hevenly places.  As I fly.  As I soar.  The thing is, my feet are still touching the earth, but my spirit rises with You.

The Ressurrection

Your dreams may have flatlined.  The authorities have put them in a bodybag, ready to card them away to the morgue.  The pathologist has been called to examine why your dreams have died, like if you need to be reminded of the dreaded disappointments.  You know that all too well.

The memories don’t cease to haunt your every waking moment.  You’ve started to make funeral arrangements for your dreams, “the newly departed.” You’re in silence.  So quiet…you only hear your heartbeat with a rhythm of fear, as it borders arrhythmia.  “Lub dub, luubb dub, lub dub.”

One. Two. Three.  An impression is made.  All of a sudden, the atmosphere is changing.  Your head perks up…”What is going on?”  You pay no attention and continue minding your own business.
A man walks up to you.  He’s holding a treasure chest.  He hands you the treasure chest while saying, “I haven’t forgotten.  You are not forgotten.”

As fast at the Man showed up, you don’t see Him again.  You open the treasure chest, only to find all of your dreams ALIVE and invigorated.
"But those who wait on the LORD
      Shall renew their strength;
      They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
      They shall run and not be weary,
      They shall walk and not faint
" (Isaiah 40:31)
 Hold on to your dreams.  Don’t let go.  Don’t let go!!  God has invested too much into your life for you to give up.  It shall come to pass.  Every last promise shall come to pass and be fulfilled.  “He will perfect that which concerns you.”  There is too much greatness within you to give up.  This mountain climb’s gonna be worth it all.
